I enjoyed the author's colorful words and phrases, but the frenetic writing style made me want to jump out of my skin.There were questions I had from the beginning that were never answered. What did her husband do before they moved to Mallorca? What did he plan to do in Mallorca once the building was completed? I had no clear idea of who her husband is. I also wanted to know who Rachel is. I assumed that she is an employee, but at times she seemed like the boss. Whoever she is, I hope she makes lots of money. What is the timeline of the story in this book? Did it occur over months or years? Considering that money was supposedly a problem; it seemed as though the building projects were completed in record time--especially in a culture where nothing gets done quickly.There are plenty of enjoyable moments in the book. I found her London life more interesting than her life in Mallorca. And I liked the stories about her Mallorcan friends. And, I love that Ms. Nicholas is such an animal lover. However, toward the end of the book there are so many traditional celebrations or partying that it got tedious. The imaginary conversations with a toad were cute, but huh? Perhaps these conversations (or some similar) did occur with a real person--like her husband, but he didn't want to be quoted in her book. Do I believe she has imaginary conversations with a toad? No.In this time of lawsuits and the necessity to protect the privacy of friends and family it seems it may be impossible to write true nonfiction unless everyone is dead. My feeling is that there is way more fiction than fact in this book. Others may feel/think differently so please don't pass on this book because of my opinion in the fact vs. fiction area. It bothered me, but it might not bother you.The best series of books I have read about moving to Mallorca are by Christ Stewart. Peter Kerr books are entertaining too, but seem more fiction than fact.I haven't given up on this series. I will eventually read the next book.

Anna Nicholas happily positions the reader amongst the true life in Mallorca, with wit and an infectious passion for her new found surroundings . A charming narrative that encourages the reader to thirst for more of her adventures.
This is a first travel book from Anna Nicholas; on the basis of this, I don't think that she will have much trouble in finding a loyal reading Public.Charmingly written, and like a lot of the best PR people, Ms Nicholas is very good at creating pictures to convey what she wants us to feel.She has managed to juggle a high pressure career with living in the wilds of Majorca. She has also had to contend with her fear of flyingI shall be pleased to see what she writes next
