It may be premature to review a book I've only read a fraction of (it's very long) but I was delighted to find Woolf's essays as well as her novels, and A Writer's Diary too. I am thrilled to have this rich collection. So far, I've read The Voyage Out, her first published novel, which I've never read, and selections from The Common Reader I, which I read a long time ago. I postpone re-reading my old favorites, but I know I'll get there. Woolf isn't to everyone's taste, but this is a bonanza if she is.

This was a great compilation of some of the world's greatest writings. One of the books I would take to a desert island. I'm using the Kindle version to accompany me reading the book in Italian so I can look up words I don't know in the English version as I go along.

I preordered this over 2 months ago. The artwork and print quality is phenomenal, and any fan of Bloodborne will love the content. But in all honesty... this really should have been a hardcover. It's very similar to a Prima 'strategy guide' in terms of quality. For a $40 book, it was shipped in a yellow envelope and stuffed in my mailbox. It has several minor dents and curled corners. It deserves a proper hardcover release. Grumble.

Only Negative thing I have to say that there wasn't a HARD BACK option and the lack of DLC Artwork. Also slightly disappointed not much commentary from the Creators was included. Over all the art was beautiful(and horrifying <3 )

I know a lot of people want to back up Udon and FromSoftware with the fact that this is paperback and it's its own book, but I can see why people would be displeased with the fact this isn't a hard cover nor is there an option for that also. The art is amazing and I still fully recommend the buy. However, it's clear that they knew this would sell like hot cakes and because it's a smaller publisher they went cheap to maximize profit. That's the problem I have. It's not a reflection of the quality of Bloodborne. If I was Hidetaki Miyazaki (I don't know if I spelled that right) I'd make sure to go with Dark Horse next time. The final thing about the physical quality is that a lot of people say it's not fun to compare, but in one sense you have to in order to gauge what a good, long lasting, and readable book is. In another you have to understand art books are collector's pieces. Do I want to collect a fat magazine that may not hold up after 3-4 reads? Or would you like the lesser priced (for what I paid) Fallout 4 art book that is so thick and heavy you need a crane to read it? (Obviously that's rhetorical for perspective) It is rather on par with some text books that could cost triple its price.About the art, sadly I have the least to say here because you can only write so much about art from a game many of us have beaten repeatedly. Obviously the book has content we've never seen until now. So for the alternate designs of the weapons, characters, architecture, and maybe most importantly, the beasts, I'm extremely impressed. I could expect nothing less from the Japanese artists who took so much time exploring Arthurian Lore and taking the time to interpret old legends of western culture. All you really need to know is this book is worth it if all you want to see is the art and you don't care that a great deal of other books on the market (for some games that aren't even AAA titles) have much better physical quality.

While the artworks allows for some neat insights into the creation of Bloodborne, with a close look at the original character designs and rich, painted environments, the book itself leaves a lot to be desired. It simply feels like Udon cut corners when it came to putting this book out on the market.While the pages are highly glossy they're also quite thin, and feel almost magazine quality. This is softcover, which is astounding for the price it charges, where most if not all comparable artbooks are hard cover.Finally the print layout doesn't do the game any favors. Some of the locations and monsters are truly breathtaking, but the publisher saw fit to stuff these into half page, even quarter page boxes, rather than dedicating full page spreads to do the artwork justice. There's a lot of real estate left to empty, white spaces, and it's frankly frustrating that I can find higher quality images of the same artwork online.The only reason I don't rate this lower is that the game's original artists put a lot of tender loving care into bringing their world to life, and it's not their fault Sony and Udon saw fit to bring us a glorified, overpriced magazine special.

Took half a year, but I've also finally received my copy.First I want to clear some misconceptions. It is regrettably SOFTCOVER which isn't a deal-breaker for me but a slight disappointment compared to the Bloodborne strategy guides which those were hardcover. Unlike other reviewers have said however, the artbook DOES INCLUDE art from the DLC, The Old Hunters. It has its own separate section in the back of the book.The good/eh: The book uses a very shiny gloss paper. It makes the pictures look nice, but fingerprints are a high risk. I wouldn't touch the pages directly unless you want to see your finger oils smudging up the blacks/colors. They could've also increased the font size used in this book; it's quite small. I enjoyed the arsenal section the most since you get to see the detail in each weapon, though I would have liked a similar section devoted to the armor sets. They also included a section for all the item/trophies icons, though it's nothing special or different since they've just used the same icon. In addition to the main game and the DLC, they have a section devoted to art you can only find in the Chalice dungeons. I'm also confused on their layout of the book. It's read as if you're progressing through the game, though I think it'd be more coherent if it was sectioned as "Characters/Bosses, Settings, Weapons, Armor, etc." but maybe that's just me.The bad: I've bought the Bloodborne strategy guides and the Okami Official Artbook also from UDON Entertainment and they are miles better than this book. This artbook has barely, if any, descriptions or details of the art beyond a name as a small caption or some dialogue quotes sprinkled throughout. Personally, I think there's way too much blank space that could've been taken up by some commentary or some game details or even some more art. Also, I noticed they're missing some things in the game, like some bosses or characters. Honestly, the book feels like a mediocre Photoshop job, which if you look hard enough, some of the pictures are Photoshopped in. Going from UDON's Okami artbook, where its character makes it look like an old binded book, made with sturdy thick paper, and commentary/tidbits on almost every piece of artwork, to this thinned-out, somewhat cheaply made book is a shame. I don't mean to sound so harsh, but it's clear they, and other Bloodborne merchandise, have done better.If you want a good Bloodborne artbook, I'd recommend getting a copy of the strategy guides if possible.

Not only do we get more of the savage games, determined survivors, and wild vampires, but werewolves storm the cast as well.V Games: Fresh from the Grave is definitely a bloody thriller of a sequel and I can't wait to read the last book in the V Games trilogy (although there are more books that will dive into the lives of other characters that will continue the series). If you're on the hunt for a story teeming with the supernatural but prefer one high on the stakes with a dash of romance to keep 'em there then definitely look into this series because so far it's been one danger of a ride.

This is the second book in this series and Selena goes back to the island to rescue Varick from the twisted Helsings, who plan to torture Varick as punishment for helping Selena escape the island. Unfortunately, Selena ends up competing in a second round of games on the Isle of Lidelse. Winning the first time was difficult, but twice is next to impossible. This book is just as fast-paced, intense and possibly more gruesome than the first. However, I found that I compelled to finish it quickly to find out how it ends. This one was definitely another nail biter!

No Worries, I was engaged right back into the continuing Story of Selena and Varick.The storyline includes history of both that drew them more clearly. Introduction to werewolves.And the new improved Helsing V Games with larger number of contestants and audience. An amphitheater that "stank of bank notes and fresh blood". Selena finds herself and her allies back in the game. Shish, this is intense and even when the action slows Ms. Peckham builds just enough new threats to let readers know there is more danger ahead. Selena and Varrick together and uh a visitor. to be continued. AAAhhhhhh!

If you thought V-Games 1 was brutal, you've seen nothing yet. Seleena and Varek arein for the challenge of their lives. V - Games, Fresh from the grave takes off from the first and never slows pace untill the breathless end. Be warned, it ends on a cliffhanger. I'm so ready for #3. I recieved a complimentary copy of this book and willingly give my honest review.

This book brings you back to the games which is held in a new arena with a lot more new and unique things for the girls. Varrick has been sent to the games instead of living with the Helsings. Werewolves are introduced as well as an old friend from Varrick’s past.

I would definitely recommend this book. There's times when it's slow, but it's so worth it. It's the second book and follows immediately after the first one. It's definitely something you should read if you like vampires/girl power/evil villain/werewolves.

Amazing read! Could not put the book down. This series deserves 5 stars... I love the story line and all the characters. Buy it read it and you will not regret it.

I love the V Games book2 and i can't wait to read the 3rd book. I love all everything about this book and the characters in the book.

I have read several of Christopher Rice's novels. I enjoy his style of writing, and the suspense he instills in his stories. I did not like his use of what I call "filler." I am aware that a lot of writers use fillers, and I find that part of a novel boring. I can only assume it is done to make the book longer. If I have never visited the part of the story fillers describe, it does not give me the desire to do so, and reading about how to travel there, is again, boring to me. Nevertheless, I will highly recommend Mr. Rice's novels. They are exciting and suspenseful.

I picked up this book because I love his mother. I've been her fan for years. I expected this book to be more like his mother's style. I was so wrong. This young man writes with his own voice, and with his own vision and talent. This was my first Christopher Rice book. I loved this book. It takes you into the gay community of Hollywood where three young gay men go missing. It brings you into the drug culture that is prevalent in centeral and southern California. This book takes twists and turns, and ties you up in knots, yet some how, he unravels it and turns it into a lovely bow in the end. So exciting that I couldn't put it down. Loved it. Can't wait to read more.

I had trouble finishing this book. So many undeveloped characters that I lost track of who was who as the protagonist investigates the death(s) of underage hustlers in Hollywood. I am a great fan of the author's mother, Anne Rice, and know they collaborate. I suggest they keep working together for his next novel.Trying to figure out who is who in this whodunit was frustrating.

This is one of several books I've read recently about gay men being murdered. (Young Forever: A Gay Mystery is another good one.) As always, Mr. Rice delivers. He kept me guessing!I liked the West Hollywood backdrop that showed the grittier side behind the glitz and glamour. It felt more authentic and real. There were a lot of twists and surprises too.

Because of the twists in this gay themed thriller you are going to find it hard to stop reading. This chase includes West Hollywood, a crashed Marine Corps flight at sea, strange snd powerful manipulative men and just when you think you know what's happening you are off on another chase. Great read. Excellent writing.

Great book. I was captured from start to end, in ways I was not even expecting. The plot is well written and developed and the characters complex enough. I found the "hero" very likable, very real, I loved the way things would happen around him prompting him to action, how in his core he was so generous and yet so stuborn... The scenarios are unfamiliar to me, so the descriptions seem perfect, I have added a few places to my mental picture of California. All and all this was fresh and contemporary and i enjoyed it through out. Highly recomend it.

This is a disappointing book after reading BONE MUSIC. The characters are belaboured and the plot goes jerkilly along.

Books by authors that are gay are often put into the gay section which gets limited attention. I would recommend this book to anyone.

I always thought I was tuned into recognizing signs from my loved ones on the other side until I read this book. Now I realize I have been missing a lot of them. Bill walks you through different ways that spirits like to communicate and it is very enlightening. I highly recommend this book and plan to gift it to several family members and friends.

There are thousands of accounts of spirits contacting us from beyond. Bill shares some in this book, and they continue to offer comfort and proof that we live forever. Bill shares information about his gift and his method of meditation. I am eternally grateful to Bill and his genuine compassion for everyone.

I have been such a believer for many years that our deceased loved ones are all around us. The night before my dad died I asked him to send butterflies so I would know he was there and when the spring came we were bombarded by butterflies. Wow, just finished reading But Not for Love - absolutely mind-blowing and it had me on the edge of my seat. Plenty of twists and turns that readers of this series will know is vintage B.J. Bourg. The killer was someone I least expected and indicated the extroadinary lengths that the individual went to in order to keep below everyone's radar. Of course Clint is on the case, along with Mallory Tuttle from the Chatau Parish police department. The two go to great lengths to use forensic analysis and good detective skills to find out who murdered several women. The motive is convuluted which adds to the tension and pace of the story-line. But in the end, Clint will get to the bottom of this mystery...its guaranteed :)

But Not For Love continues the Clint Wolf saga and is a riveting story. I highly recommend this book, but be prepared to lose sleep unless you begin reading first thing in the morning.

As always with BJ Bourg this book delivered. I sat down to read for a few minutes but read late into the night. I would recommend it to anyone. Full action, suspense, and mystery.

I have read all of bj bourg books and liked all of them.

What the announcement does not tell is about Ron’s life besides running – living under the covetous eyes of his Aunt and Uncle, and their abuse, countered with love from his Grandparents and friends, and the trickiness and incidents which endangers himself and his Grandparents; and how the three Musketeers planned, set up and forced his hunters to expose themselves to the law. He also stood to lose his father’s estate, until the last minute.This is a book of young people (mainly) and adults who like young people. The author provides what is essentially an inspirational story of determination and friendship. We hear the advice from father, applicable to his running:” Pace yourself” ‘You can do it! Head up, shoulders back, and run!”; and we see this translated into life in general as ‘Stick to your goals; if you fall or slow down, pick yourself up and start all over again). But also very important for the reader (especially a young one), the author has done an excellent job of mixing danger with youthful play. Aided by their adult friends the trio becomes good guys taking on the evil ones almost openly without cloaks and daggers, or dark sunglasses.I wondered why Ron always refused to tell his Grandfather or Linda or Gene about his interactions with his uncle and aunt and his suspicions. Though he often said this was to protect the adults, Linda and Gene, I think that he wanted to solve the issues himself with his two friends, making this a precursor to his doing it himself at his Olympic race.I recommend this book for young adults and for older adults who can (for a while) cast off their adult garb and ‘become young again’

Spirit Runner, Published by Windsor Graphics is a fascinating story in e-book by Richard FergusonRon Campbell is a 7-year old who wants to be a runner like his father who had been an Olympian. He is doing well until a devastating auto accident kills his immediate family and leaves him with mangled legs that physicians say may not even allow him to walk again. A kind, child oriented nurse sympathetically helps him through his somewhat extended hospital stay. Upon release, his grandfather, a wealthy rancher and former sheriff, assumes responsibility and bring him home to live with his daughter and her husband. They resent the child and are physically abusive because he provides an interference with their secret schemes to obtain the father’s money and land. Fortunately, a man who had stopped by for a time to earn money to continue his journey to California is a graduate rehabilitation therapist from his native Australia. He sees the boy and suggests to the grandfather that he can help him to walk but it would be best if he could monitor him on a 24-hour basis. Ron moves in with him and his therapy sessions begin and are aided by two friends, a young girl and slightly older boy from neighboring ranches. Ron gradually improves with his sessions but is plagued with mean tricks instigated by his aunt and uncle. From this point the story accelerates even more as through the years Ron’s legs strengthen and the aunt and uncle become more desperate and escalate their attacks even into attempts to cause his death and that of others because the grandfather considers changing his will in favor of Ron. The climax(s) actually are two. One describes the ultimate family situation finalization and the second concentrates on what happens with respect to Ron’s initial desire to emulate his father.Discussion: The author has produced a fast-paced, well written tale about a likeable young protagonist with unsurpassed strength and fortitude, enjoyably believable friends and a credible plot. Granted, the story’s ending becomes pretty much predictable, but for any reader who appreciates a truly well written ‘feel good story’ this is a thoroughly enjoyable read that one does not want to miss.

Spirit Runner by Richard Ferguson is about a young boy named Ron Campbell who tragically lost his entire family in a car accident at a young age. Ron was old enough to remember his family and his father’s passion for running, but also young enough to have to be in the care of family. Ron’s Aunt and Uncle take custody of him near the ranch that his grandfather owns and runs. Unfortunately for Ron losing his entire family in an auto accident was only the beginning of the trauma that would be a feature in his life. His Aunt and Uncle are willing to not only mistreat him, but also kill him for his inheritance. If it weren’t for his loving grandparents and a live in therapist Ron may not have been able to learn to walk and run again. This book shows both the good and the bad that can happen in a young person's life and how those struggles and triumphs can shape the person that you become. This book is really a testament to the human spirit and how resilient some people can be. You’ll cry and cheer as you witness Ron facing all of his struggles. Richard Ferguson did a great job of making the reader really care about the main character and that is one of my favorite features in any good book. I look forward to reading more of his work.
