This is a good book, the phrases cover a broad spectrum and are really helpful especially when you just can't seem to get started and need a little inspiration!

If you are like me and don't come from an environment of performance evaluation, it can come as a real shock, especially since they want more than just excellent, good, fair and poor. This allows you to develop phrases in keeping with the questions asked and provides a variety of responses so the reviews don't all sound the same. The phrases are meant more for sales and marketing types and not medical or technical, but they can be adapted to work.

Every leader should own this, makes writing and phrasing what you really want to say that much easier.

They say not to use 'boiler plate' templates for performance but I found the phrases were great to use as a starting point and could easily modify them to my needs.

Some of these passes boggle the mind, and I am looking forward to using this book on a planned Alpine trip in 2018, when I will "recreate" my earliest drive on the Stelvio Pass shortly after getting my driving license. My Mother and Father were mighty happy when we reached the top without error, at which point Dad took over much to Mum's relief.

This is an excellent book. We like to travel and drive in this region, and it is usually very difficult to choose and weigh the numerous options out there. This was a great resource for planning our next trip, and the history of the various passes is a welcome addition.

I did some of these roads with a friend in a Cobra summer 2015, and did not realise there were so many more passes!Great content, very nice coffee table book, if a second edition is printed, please do it on gloss paper stock.

I gave this as a birthday gift to a good friend who absolutely loved the book. Now my boyfriend wants one, too :-) I'm going to give it to him for Christmas. The book is absolutely beautiful and if you like traveling beautiful, windy roads in fast sports cars, you'll love reading this book.

Beautiful photos. If you are planning on a driving tour to some of these Alpine passes, it will give you a good idea of what you can look forward to.

Ready to start driving now.. 49 years ago we drove most of these passes. Seeing what they look like via the magnificent photos from a helicopter scared me but made me want to drive them again, this time enjoying the curves and the view in a more civilized manner. First time you just drive, second time I hope to enjoy the drive much more.PS we still have the Porsche 1968L that we purchased in Germany. We drove all of those passes with a 6-24 mo old sleeping on the rear seats in a box. No seat belts then :( and very high speeds too. She is now a Pediatrician. LOL

It has beautiful pictures but I would have preferred much more recommendations and history.

Petr is happy to be in Rios Azules helping his brother out in his restaurant. Lucy-Jane has come back to town to lick her wounds after her dismissal from her previous job and ex-boyfriend. Guilt about things from each of their pasts drives much of the book and despite the constant arguing these two do, maybe they can help each other. Very enjoyable story, in one of my favorite fiction towns. Looking forward to see what’s in store for us in the 3rd book of this series.

Once again, another excellent story by Alexa. She makes me feel as if i want to be a character in the story. I also enjoyed learning about some Russian wedding traditions and phrases.

Alexa Verde’s book Season Of Love:When Lacy-Jane lost her job and went back home her life changes. Working at Grandpa Alexey’s with Petr Lacy-Jane was defensive and ready to argue when she didn’t get her way. When the boss told them that they had to spend time together outside of work she wasn’t happy. After spending time together she realized that Petr is nothing like her old boss or Bob. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could. This book is truly inspirational and you can’t stop reading it.

This book was one that God used to speak to me. I love how she realized that she had been going by her own will, doing what she wanted instead of asking God what He wanted. Lord, help my every decision to be based on your own will and not mine. I also like when she realized what her dream really was, the one God gave her. It is hard when you’ve had people telling you what you aren’t capable of doing all your life. Then you become programmed to live Like you believe those lies instead of believing what God says about you. Very well done!

I have come to love the town of Sweet Grove. So well described by author Alexa Verde, it feels like a real place. And the characters in the story have become like old friends. It’s so enjoyable to see what they are up to next. And they seem so real as they battle emotions and the trials of life.A truly delightful story, you’ll love the banter between Petr and Lacy-Jane. Returning to Sweet Grove was a treat, and learning so much about Russian culture was an added bonus. Love’s Christmas Cheer is a great read any time of the year!I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

Another excellent story set in Sweet Grove. I really enjoyed the characters of Petr and Lacey Jane and watching their relationship develop. There was also a lot of information about Russian wedding practices which I found interesting. This was a really delightful story that kept me smiling. I received this story as a gift.

I loved continuing the story of Melinda and Andrey from the first book while focusing on their siblings Petr and Lacy-Jane. I was drawn into the story and the characters and couldn’t put the book down! I love the clean romance and how their faith was part of their lives even through real life and difficulties. Can’t wait for the next book!

I noticed when skimming the other reviews that a lot of people didn't seem to like this book. I was not one of them. Where some people found middle-aged Fitz annoying, I found him relatable. This may say more about my own personal failings than about Hobb's overall level of skill (I, too, struggle with letting go sometimes...okay, maybe more than sometimes), but regardless, I enjoyed Fitz as a protagonist in this book. I actually liked him much better than I did in the Assassin books. The character formerly known as The Fool (and by another name in another trilogy, if you're paying the least bit of attention) continues to delight, as does Nighteyes. Reading about both of them was like reuniting with old friends. Some of Nighteyes' "dialogue" had me literally laughing out loud at times. No, Kettricken doesn't get much attention, but that's because she's not a significant character in this book, and that's okay.Hobb continues to expand her world-building exploration of the Wit and the Skill in this book in ways that intrigue and provoke reflection on a variety of topics, from small-scale ones such as personal boundaries in relationships to larger-scale ones such as how humans in general tend to "other" and find reasons to hate and fear one other. The tempo does start off slow, but that seems appropriate given that Fitz starts off arguably "stuck" in the isolated life he has chosen. That sort of life has a slow tempo built into it (as anyone who has lived in relative isolation can attest), so causing the reader to experience that tempo is just one more way that they can become immersed in Fitz's experiences- as I did.Without getting into spoilers, I will say that even though I saw some plot twists coming, it didn't diminish at all from the experience for me. There were still parts near the end where I couldn't bring myself to set the book down, and had to read just one more chapter, even if I should have been sleeping. And there were parts where I cried. And kept crying, well after I'd set the book down. That might sound bad, but I wouldn't trade away the experience of reading this book for anything... strange as it might sound, I loved it.The epilogue initially struck me as strange and irrelevant. At the time I shrugged and was just like, "whatever." Then twelve hours later I was laying down with a cat on my chest, just contemplatively looking out a window, and all of a sudden the theme hit me like a tsunami crystallizing on impact. It just all came together in a single moment, and shifted something in my soul a little bit.Anything that can cause that is very good writing, indeed. Maybe I read it at the right time, and that amplified the impact. But it still had to be the right book, at the right time. So while this was an enjoyable escapist adventure in a detailed fantasy world (as Hobb provided in her previous two trilogies), it also tells what can be (depending on the reader, I suspect) a deeply meaningful and thought-provoking story. I expect this one will stay with me for some time.

I read the Farseer Trilogy many years ago and remember it as a beacon in a sea of terrible fantasy.I'm afraid since then, having read the liveship trilogy and now tawny man, that I am again, cast adrift. I'm afraid to look at the Farseer trilogy any more, because I don't know if Hobb got worse, or my idea of a good novel simply changed.Fitz is a character I feel Hobb tries to make you feel sympathy for as a flawed human, but it comes across as fishing for compliments. He's somewhat pathetic, constantly complaining about things that he has the biggest hand in. Are people really like that? Sure. But as the main protagonist, it's droll. I find the story from his perspective to be positively annoying. Hobb spends an inordinately large amount of time detailing inane things like taking a bath, but the parts that move the plot are done so quickly, or EVEN WORSE, some other character reports to Fitz what happened, and the event is not even detailed with the color or that other character's language. It's summarized by Fitz. This happens so often it actually makes me angry. I don't mind the daily life descriptions in fantasy novels. I think they are great ways to flavor the world of your story. But to make them a larger part of the text on your page is frustrating.Hobb tries to make the reader believe certain things about other characters by having Fitz repeat over and over again what qualities Hobb wants you to believe they have. But without actually seeing those things, it comes across as hollow. The greatest example of this is his every word about Kettaricken. Kettaricken could be a stuffed animal that fitz keeps saying is so brave and strong, and I would feel the same way towards it as I do to the living breathing Kettaricken character. But there are others. Like Nettle. We get all these reports that she just cries all the time. Yet when we actually interact with us she seems capable, if naive. Also, why exactly does Hobb like to make her female characters known as criers so much?Pale woman is 2D, boring antagonist. Why the Narwhal clan would think killing a dragon for her JUST for the ability to kill their forged family members is a good idea is beyond me. Hobb as Fitz didn't make a very good case for it, and neither did anyone else. Nothing suggested she'd stop preying on the clan once the dragon was dead. Even worse, nobody made the case that marrying the Narcheska from one hobbling clan in the outislands would be a good idea at all to the Six duchies. Didn't stop so-called master advisor Chade from being obsessed with completing it.Ugh. I need to stop this review. It makes me sad.

While I don't love everything that happens in this book, I definitely love the series.Set in an alternate world in a renaissance time period, it continues a story of friends, family, magic, dragons, and much more. While there might be many of these themes available, the Farseer and Tawny Man series definitely stand out in how you will fall in love with the characters and be engaged in the plot.Of the "Tawny Man" series, which is the follow up to the "Fitzchivalry Farseer" series, this is the most action packed. The first two in the series were more of a set up of the end, as well as a reminder of what happened in the first series and a point of filling in some of the important details of the plot line that further develops the characters and gives you the "why" of many of the things that have happened in the past.While the Tawny Man series doesn't get you quite as attached to the characters as Farseer did, it's definitely a must read to complete the story and will definitely give you both joy, sorrow, and a mixture of emotions as you learn more about the characters. It's definitely satisfying, though I'd say you really should read the first series before it. If you haven't, then definitely read it after. It's wonderful.There are notes of the authors other series "Liveships" throughout the books that give you several peeks into the lives of those characters as well, which I feel adds a lot of flavor to the book.I have read all three of the aforementioned series several times, with this one being read with my family aloud so that my husband can experience this wonderful story.

I am extremely disappointed by the EXTREME lack of diversity in this book. There are ZERO kids of color represented as superheroes and only 3/14 superheroes are female. This is disgraceful. Returning this book immediately as I will not subject my children to this type of subconscious message.

Fantastic, inspiring book! I bought another to give to my friend, who is also a music teacher. There’s not much about Dudamel in here, which is as it should be — it’s more about El Sistema, which produced him, and the should-be-canonized Abreu. What an incredible human being! We can all learn from him, the incredible work he has done, and all the lives he has changed and saved.

The story narrated in this book is breathtaking. How one man, Juan Antonio Abreu, and his dream of El Sistema, transformed Venezuela from a country whose professional orchestra employed no Venezuelans to a country where EVERY child has the right to study music with gifted teachers for as many years as they wish, to have an instrument to play, and the opportunity to play in musical groups of all sizes and talent. Now the country has several world-class orchestras of young people and even school children who are invited all over the world to play for sophisticated musical audiences and then treated to enthusiastic standing ovations and patrons shouting approval! These young musicians are proficient not only in all genres of European music, they are also proficient in Latin American music, both popular and classical. The book has helped us to understand El Systema better and try it as it is.Results are astonnishing Required reading for poéople in the Education field, from ple¿anners and director to front line teachers.

This book should be required reading for music teachers everywhere, and for those folks in positions of power in the educational system who pass judgement on funding for music and other arts programs.

I am retired, and I am also a volunteer violin teacher in an El Sistema like after school program in Chicago's inner city. While the US and not Venezuela, this book was nicely done, and helped me to understand how all this came to be.
