Very nice guide and has a lot of useful information on it as a quick, go to reference. A lot of stuff that I never knew and I got these cause my family has been suffering a lot of skin and allergy issues so we have decided to cut out the chemicals and other things that aren't natural to try and better our health. These guides are handy to have as a quick guide, I reference them all the time. Would recommend to anyone who needs something quick to reference.

If you have the time and are creative you could do a better job, but this quick lookup sheet is pretty nicely laid out.

This is a nice chart to have on hand for a quick reference. Covers many of the most used herbs.

I have a tea business and find this quick study very helpful. Although people may enjoy simple teas for pleasure and as a refreshment, they have questions about teas/herbals that they hear about in the news, from friends, etc. This handout can answer some of the most basic questions about some of the more popular herbals. This is a detailed account of what it was like to be a young actor/actress in the 1970's. Mary certainly learned a lot from Will Geer (he ran a theater group), and mostly enjoyed her time on the series. Will was always of good cheer, and he enjoyed being with the kids - even after the camera stopped rolling - he'd tell humorous stories and asides (or teach the kids about plants - he would sometimes egg them on, "Try this, you'll get HIGH").Will Geer - Quite a CharacterSo he was kind of funny, and caring. When the child actors hung around him, they learned a lot - about life, botany/plants, and being a professional - really about how to "Live life to the fullest".Then there was Grandma - Ellen Corby. She was so professional .. and served as "script girl" [she had done this for many years, prior to being on the Waltons show]. Ellen helped the kids with their lines, and other things [when they had to re-shoot a scene, she'd help them "put their hair & attitude back to where they left off at.." ]. This was for consistencyMary talks about what it was like to shoot the special (B-4 the series began) - and how much fun she had. She talks about her family too, & how they'd tease her abt the show [her character, Erin]. That's pretty funny. (also she touched on her friendship w/ Michael Learned).It runs a bit long, at times - such as her crusade about "Body Image" (women's obsession to change their breast appearance) - yet that's a Subject which needed some light shed on it ! (You can just skip that section if u don't wish to read it)So I mostly enjoyed Mary's reflections, and finding out what she liked to do during her spare time. Her good friends from the show - one of them is the actor who plays Jason, on the show. Read the Kindle book to discover the others!P.S. Elizabeth is touched on in this book, as well as John-Boy (Richard Thomas)

I have read this book 3 times, and it seems to improve with every read. About 60% or so deals with her time on the Waltons, and after that, her horrendous ordeal with implants, and lupis. Mary is truly a top notch writer, who keeps you interested, inspired, entertained, etc with every written line in her book. The Waltons was a fave tv show of mine when it originally aired in the 1970's, and via the box set of the series my angel lady gave me for Christmas, I can enjoy it again whenever i wish. I can not express my warm feelings about this marvelous book of hers good enough, quite frankly. HIGHLY recommended.

I loved this book, read it in just two days.As a big fan of the Waltons (I still watch re-runs) I bought the book originally expecting a behind the scenes look at the Waltons, and did. But so much more.First of all I have to say how Very, very, Very nice Mary Beth came across throughout the entire book. When she told stories that were unpleasant, she took care to only describe the incident, but not out, accuse, or belittle the offender. There were many times she was wronged as a woman and a human and she has handled those wrongs in the book with the utmost class.Hearing about all the cast of the Waltons was so wonderful, to see that the people I loved on screen were the same great people off screen. I admit to knowing and loving these actors, including Mary Beth and even when I see them somewhere else they will always be Erin, John Boy or Olivia. When Ralph Wait was on Days of Our Lives, even as Father Matt, he was still John Walton.The more touching was when Mary told of her struggles, I felt for her, and vowed that I would not let my daughter, who is currently 10, be in the dark. She has a right to her voice, and a right to say no. She has a right to her own body, and a right to make informed decisions about it.I bless Mary Beth for this book, for her work, and for her continued role as a caregiver to everyone.

McDonough has a wonderful ability to draw you into her story of playing a game of hide and seek with the multiple dimensions of herself. From her life at home to her adventures as a child star growing up on TV's Walton's; as an adult struggling to find her unscripted way through love and marriage, motherhood and parenting, as she carefully learns to balance between trusting herself and others who have always been portrayed as the ones who should never be doubted or questioned. McDonough takes you on a path that will lead you up the steep and sometimes rocky side of Walton's Mountain back down to the valleys of unknowns only to finally reach a plateau of acceptance and a better understanding of living a life of peace requires the occasional dips, twists, and turns to remind you who you truly are.

Janine Tucker has been the head women's lacrosse coach at nationally ranked Johns Hopkins University and the director of the Johns Hopkins All-Star Girls' Lacrosse Camp for ten years. She was an All-American lacrosse player for Loyola College and is a member of the Loyola College Athletic Hall of Fame. Maryalice Yakutchik teaches journalism and creative writing at Loyola College and is a freelance journalist. She played varsity lacrosse for Temple University, was assistant women's lacrosse coach at Kutztown University, and has coached youth-league girls' lacrosse for the past six years.

My daughters' team needed an assistant coach, I volunteered. Then the head coach was injured and they needed a new head coach, I volunteered. All this happened in less than 24 hours. Having never played lacrosse, I was mortified. I turned to Amazon and found this book. Another coach recommended it and I bought it hardcopy and read it cover to cover. I then got the kindle version to use with my iPad during practices. The title of the book says it all. This book explained what I needed to know and how to set up my practices and what to emphasize. My assistant coach downloaded it too so we would be on the same page with respect to the drills we would be running. I can't imagine this endeavor without this book as a guide.

I have used the drills in this book to coach all levels of the women's game. From junior ball, to high school, and even college club there are drills for all. The drills are extremely easy to understand and explained well. The best part is that they have a "rating" next to each so that you know if you're dealing with a drill for beginners or more advanced players (which is such a help when dealing with the junior and hs level). I have recommended this book for years and will continue to do so.

Great for those new to coaching. It gives good general overviews of bigger concepts and breaks it down to more i depth ideas. Has sections for specific drills (easy to complex). The one thing this book can't magically improve is skill; that comes with time spent with the ball in stick!

My 10 year old just got into lacrosse this fall. I knew nothing about the game. This book is great. Considering my coaching history I am sure I will be suckered into coaching in the youth program. This book is of great benefit for this.

I have used this for bookkeeping my childcare business for many years and my tax preparer is always impressed with how organized I am. I give the credit to this book. I highly recommend it. I have tweeked it to work for me and use the parts that I need so it is easily adaptable to any home childcare business.

I purchased this for my sister's home daycare and though she hasn't used it properly, I love it, lol!! I love the recipes, suggestions for improvement, the layout and the opportunity for organization. I will definitely force her to use the 2018 version properly!

Perfect size, plenty of space to keep track of things, having this be spiral bound keeps it looking great all year. Some of the others I have used look crappy by the end of the year.

Best thing to keep track for daycare and when your adding totals for tax time!!!

Food program provides calendar but this is the only one I use. I've tried to use others a few times but always after a couple of months give in and buy this one again. Will buy this for next year in November.

This is a good read for pastors...

Dr. Craddock is one that will go down in ministerial folklore. Many have come from under his tutelage but he will never be matched and One Without Authority is an example of his expertise.

A good book by an authority on preaching - despite the title!

Well Written

Great

A classic!

Craddock's work remains a popular volume on preaching in many evangelical circles. One understands his desire to minister to the present generation with the Word of God by evaluating the current condition of American pulpits. Fewer and fewer attend church with each passing generation, and Craddock is right to look primarily at those who are responsible for shepherding the flocks.While Craddock nobly seeks to make the sermons more understandable to the modern culture, he goes too far in looking first to the culture to determine the content of the sermon itself. He notes of a "current sag in the pulpit [which] is the loss of certainty and the increase of tentativeness on the part of the preacher" (11). With the culture shying away from any perceived authoritative figure, preachers tend to compensate so as not to offend. This reliance on the congregation's perception of the sermon is overstated.Rather, Craddock believes the key to contemporary preaching is for sermons to cease being exclusively one-sided. He believes the congregation should have some part in the preaching process. While preaching in some degree is a community experience, boundaries do exist --- yet Craddock seeks to move the boundary markers more toward the congregation and away from exclusively the preacher. "Without question, preaching increases in power when it is dialogical, when speaker and listener share in the proclamation of the Word" (18). "Without question"?Secondly, the preacher will find value in certain aspects of Craddock's model of inductive preaching. Rather than starting with a particular truth and moving to particular applications (deduction), Craddock believes that starting with the listeners' experiences and moving them to the biblical propositions would reach more people, especially those in Western culture. He notes:"Anyone who preaches deductively from an authoritative stance probably finds that shared experiences in the course of service as pastor, counselor, teacher, and friend tend to erode the image of authority. Such preachers want protecting distance, not over exposure. However, these common experiences, provided they are meaningful in nature and are reflected on with insight and judgment, are for the inductive method essential to the preaching experience" (49).Yet, Craddock implies that a preacher cannot be transparent in relating to his parishioners' experiences, yet still relay propositional truth. The preacher is not the ultimate authority, but what authority he has is found in the God-given Scriptures from whom that authority derives.He conveys that the listener is the ultimate arbiter of whether a sermon is of value or not. This mindset is troublesome. For instance, in the same chapter as the quote from above, he gives a reason for stressing inductive preaching: "If it is done well, one often need not make the applications of the conclusion to the lives of the hearers. If they have made the trip, it is their conclusion, and the implication for their own situations is not only clear but personally inescapable" (48-49). While he rightly presents the fact that the ultimate responsibility for one's Christian walk lies not with the minister but with the listener, his rationale falls apart. He understands how Western/American culture has difficulty in thinking in a Christian worldview in which propositional truths are processed (implying they need help in this area), he then questions why a minister would want to come along and concretely and objectively help them in properly applying the Word to their lives.Though Western culture is most certainly image-driven rather than word-driven, this trend is not necessarily a good trend that preachers should feed. Craddock would do well to remember the doctrine of fallen humanity. The very members of his audience look through the lenses of their own depravity. The experiences and images are quite subjective, and therefore tinged by sin and self. Deductive preaching that begins with the clear, objective propositional truths of Scripture that serve as anchors in the midst of the minds of cultural subjectivity.Many pastors would take offense to a particular statement that truly sums up Craddock's not-so-veiled attempt to decry the deductive method of preaching, he propounds that preachers lack academic respectability because of their use of this method in the modern and postmodern age. While he does not advocate a speech teacher to teach preaching in seminaries, he continues:"And, of course, when preaching is taught by a pastor, retired or active, the course suffers, deservedly or not, from that particular brand of harsh laughter reserved by students and faculty for that which lacks academic respectability. As a natural consequence, preaching continues for another generation as 'a marginal annoyance on the record of a scientific age'" (5).The general nature in which Craddock refers to the majority of preachers does not help his credibility in addressing the so-called ills of deductive preaching. While his concerns may have some legitimacy, to paint such a broad brush stroke over pulpits and seminaries alike is irresponsible. The "thin diet of fond memories" (4) in which he accuses the church of living in perpetuating this method of preaching may well continue for a reason.Craddock's propensity to direct intentionally the book toward the female minister is particularly disturbing. One could forgive this indiscretion if he provided more balance --- yet he exclusively refers to the ministers that he describes with the feminine gender. Given how this book seeks to reach the broadest base of ministers and lay leaders possible, Craddock conveys an agenda which seems more reactionary to conservative evangelicalism which clearly (and biblically) holds to male spiritual leaders in favor of a more liberal mindset in addressing and acknowledging only female ministers. While many in various evangelical circles laud this book (even desiring a second edition), he loses a major marketing base by such a transparent and disappointing agenda that distracts from the message he wishes to convey.ConclusionRegardless of the reception of this book both at the time of its original publication and now, I could not recommend this book to fellow preachers. If I did, I would only recommend this book to show the problematic nature of listener-oriented, exclusively inductive preaching.For a more balanced work, I would recommend Preaching with Bold Assurance by Hershael York and Bert Decker. This work seeks to help the preacher with engaging exposition which seeks not only to touch the listeners' minds but also to touch their hearts as well. Craddock laments that not enough preaching is relevant for audiences, but blames deductive preaching. Deductive preaching need not be irrelevant preaching. York's book clearly demonstrates this.
