I've only had this book a few weeks, so haven't had a need for it much yet. But my husband has been suffering with his sinuses for 8 months. Nothing seemed to help. So I grabbed the book, learned all about sinuses & what things work for them. I liked it that it offered several different remedies, so I was able to find something I felt he would be willing to try. He's one of those hard-headed men who doesn't want to appear weak! I fixed the Spicy Sinus Soup, read to him the explanation of why & how it should work, & handed the soup to him that morning. He was gone until evening. When he came home, I asked him if it worked. He said, "I'll say it worked! It relieved my sinuses for most of the day!" He's so impressed, he's been telling his friends about it. I had my first sinus headache in probably 20 years last week, so decided to try the soup! It took an hour or so to relieve me, but it left my sinuses & the massive headache all clear! I like how this book educates you about the subject, provides several remedies, & follows up with the scientific explanation of why it works for each remedy.

Love this book! Dr. White was a fantastic teacher in college and her book doesn't disappoint either. I prefer to go the organic route whenever possible, and there are lots of easy solutions, tips, recipes, etc available to try in this book. There are also a lot of explanations on why we experience certain ailments and how to reduce the likelihood of them.

This book is giving me a whole new way of living. It is not just a recipe book for home recipes. It talks about how to live.

This book was a gift and my friend loves it. She said that she has tried several of the cures.

Well written. Gives good info on different remedies I've not seen in other books. Worth the purchase& already had to use a few of these suggested remedy recipes. They truly work well.

Alphabetically arranged reference book for the kinds of things all parts of our bodies regularly call our attention to. Dr. White distills the wisdom of our grandmothers backed up by meticulously researched science. She directs us to herbs, obviously, but also to pen and paper (writing also can cure what ails us!) and a pair of walking shoes (stopping to smell the roses-you'd be surprised by the extent of their curative powers.)

Tons of information written in everyday languageand simple to understand. Great tips withoutusing hard drug products with side effects.Love it.

I'm glad to have this just in time for spring and yard work. I'll check this pout before running to the pharmacy for over the counter remedies.

It is a sad commentary on the state of the publishing industry in the 21st century that it is no longer enough to write a good book. Now it is also essential to build a "platform"--a series of personal connections numbering in the thousands on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other social media outlets. A book author needs to blog on a regular basis and make as many public speaking appearances as possible. All of this is designed to subtly promote and sell a writer's books. And woe be to the author who tries to survive without a substantial platform.This is the essential message of Chuck Sambuchino's book. And he makes a very persuasive case. Sambuchino contends that platform is not about blatant self-promotion but rather is all about building relationships one plank at a time. He argues that only by becoming a major electronic extrovert and putting yourself "out there" can an author hope to have any success irregardless of the quality of the book she has written. Apparently a website, a blog with a large readership, an e-newsletter and a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, etc. are the minimum requirements for the modern writer.I found the last section of the book, which includes a series of in-depth interviews with writers of various genres who have succeeded in building huge platforms to be be extremely helpful. Almost all of the interviewees, however, warn of the dangers of a writer spending too much time platform building and not enough time actually. . . writing. Sambuchino also argues that this trend is not going away anytime soon and points out that even prospective agents and editors now routinely google writers to check the size of their platform. Love it or hate it, this is the way of the world and Sambuchino's book offers a wealth of excellent advice as to how a writer can not only survive in this brave new world but actually thrive by platform building and social media smoozing.

This is a very informative book that all aspiring writers should read. Chuck breaks down the key components of a writer's platform and explains them in easy to do steps. You just have to commit to doing the work. One of his key themes is the more you can offer, the more people will follow you, and the more good things will come to you. You can read this as hard work pays off. The author case studies are wonderful examples of how regular aspiring authors put in the time, produced great work, and became successful. You can do it too.

This is very valuable information for aspiring, new and established writers.This book is very realistic and the points of view are upfront and forthcoming; there’s no fluff in there.The examples given in ‘Create Your Writer Platform’ apply to both fiction and non-fiction writers and authors who have a book deal. The only thing I wish there was more of in this book is advice for self-published authors without a book deal. Despite that, the information given still applies, since it is about platform creation and not about striving to obtain agents and/or publishers.After reading this book I feel more inspired and have more ideas in mind to help boost my platform. I do not feel overwhelmed and above all I feel like I’m headed in the right direction with all the actions I’ve taken in my writing career.Well done Chuck Sambuchino! I look forward to reading more of your helpful advice, and maybe someday I’ll have the opportunity to meet you at one of your speaking engagements!All the authors that offered their success stories were very helpful, but I for one found Sarah Pekkanen‘s story to be the most helpful. Blogging is like putting on a rock concert and hoping an audience comes to listen to you play. Did I erect enough signs? I consider my blog my home.
